Students: Share Your Global Idea To Win A Ticket
School students are being encouraged to share their big ideas with TEDx Townsville.
The event’s organisers and Townsville Bulletin Inspire have launched an exciting competition to inspire young minds in the region.
The competition will give one young student the chance to win a ticket (with a guardian) to the official TEDx Townsville event, held in September at Dancenorth.
To enter, students are required to write a 200- word answer to the question “What idea do you have that will change the world for the better?”
TEDx Townsville founder Tania Clarke said the event was about sharing ideas with the local community.
“The event will have TED style talks showcasing global ideas, entertainment and an Innovation Alley prompting thought- provoking discussions,” she said.
“Students will be exposed to life changing topics and thought-provoking ideas.
“This competition allows us to open TEDx Townsville to the education community and provide students exposure to a global ideas platform.”
Students can email firstname.lastname@example.org to submit their 200 words with the email subject as “TEDx Townsville Competition”.
Entries will close on August 3 at 5pm and the winner will be announced on August 9 in the Townsville Bulletin’s Inspire lift out.
TEDx Townsville is a volunteer run event under licence from TED, the organisation that hosts TED Talks around the globe.
“Our 2016 theme is Breaking Barriers,” Ms Clarke said.
“TEDx Townsville 2016 is about overcoming all obstacles and shining a light on what is holding our community back."
“This year we look forward to ideas about rising from the ashes, tackling difficulties, turning problems into catalysts and breaking the barriers to creating, innovating and changing for the better.”
